Coeur Win Squeaker, 6-5, Over Dirty Reds
|
The St. Louis Coeur withstood an impressive performance by Dayton third baseman José Cuebas to defeat the Dirty Reds, 6-5, at The BFIB. Cuebas went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Cy Dickson, 3-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 3 innings. After today's action, St. Louis sits at 30-30, while Dayton falls to 39-21.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when St. Louis center fielder Dermott Colenutt, facing Bhagavan Antle, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Coeur the 6-5 win.
"I felt good up there," said Colenutt. "I saw the ball well."
