Ponies Capture Close Win
The Kingston Ponies besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Cape Coral first baseman Brian Byrd by beating the Hurricanes, 5-4, at Megaffin Park. Byrd was 5-6 with a home run, a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. The 11th-place Ponies now have a record of 22-38.

Up to bat in the bottom of the 13th, 27-year old first baseman Adam Bell had a chance to be the hero. Cape Coral pitcher Erich Alfaro wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Bell hit a sacrifice fly. The Ponies had themselves a thrilling win.

"We battled our tails off to get this win," said Kingston manager Rayzor Ray.
