The Oakland Oaks defeated the D.C. Divided, 5-2, in Menard's Third League action at Washington Stadium. Oakland pitcher Craig Smith had a standout performance. Fernando Fonseca was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 11 save opportunities. The win gives Oakland a season record of 32-29.

Oakland used a clutch at-bat from Brett Taylor to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Oaks ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Jonathan Gerth.
