Zwarthoed Powers Dirty Reds Offense
Due in large part to right fielder Edgar Zwarthoed, the Dayton Dirty Reds sunk the St. Louis Coeur, 9-1. Zwarthoed was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Juan Rodríguez. He tossed 112 pitches over 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits. The Dirty Reds are now 39-22, while the Coeur fall to 41-20.

Bob Dennis had a big 2-run double for the Dirty Reds in the top of the fourth inning. With Dayton leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from former first round draft pick Augusto Jaimes and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dirty Reds ahead, 3-0.
