Mazeltov Powers Northern Lions BC to 9-1 Win
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC topped the Detroit Rock City, 9-1, at Detroit Stadium. Thunder Bay shortstop Frankie Mazeltov was a spark plug for the offense. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Bennett Dodd, who finished 3rd in the 3L in wins with 13 last year, was the winner. He's now 3-6. The loser was Steve Kidd. The Rock City have now dropped 5 straight.
With Thunder Bay leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Mazeltov batted against Detroit pitcher Steve Kidd. Mazeltov hit a fastball to left for a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Northern Lions BC on top, 4-1.
"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Kyle Salow.
