Fans watched the Charleston Battery and the Nova Scotia Leviathan fight to the finish.

Alfredo Maldonado could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Nova Scotia Leviathan lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Charleston Battery at Charleston Armory. Earning his 2nd save for Charleston was Jeremiah Cole.

Some sloppy defense hurt the Leviathan. In the bottom of the second, with Charleston trailing 1-0, Santiago Serrano was at the plate when Charleston scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Battery to go in front, 2-1.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Charleston skipper Matt Hunt. "I can't complain."

Charleston currently is in last place in the Third League at 22-44.
