Stingers Take Down Patriots, 5-4
|
The Stingers grabbed a win, 5-4, at Pacesetter Park, overcoming a fine effort from Boston pitcher Eric Buchanan. Buchanan went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Reliever Jim Hunter picked up the win. His record improves to 2-4. Cordell Dawson, who is tied for 10th in the PL with a 3.18 ERA, took the loss. Toledo, at 25-40, occupies last place in the Premier League.
Pancho Cháves helped out the Toledo cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the left fielder drove in one run.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Boston manager Tyler Carter.
