Getting an impressive start from Victor Lagers, Toronto beat Buffalo by the score of 5-2. In 6 innings, Lagers surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Ron Murphy closed it out for his 19th save.
Bob Davis had a big solo home run for the Thunder in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Toronto leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from Zander Daig, who is tied for 7th in the PL with a 2.90 ERA, and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Thunder on top, 4-2.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Toronto skipper Jordan Smith.
The victory gives Toronto a record of 40-25.
