Cape Coral turned a fine outing from starter Lawrence Higgins into a victory over the Echo Park Lakers at Factory of Sadness. The final score was 4-1. In 7.1 innings, Higgins surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Cape Coral is now 31-40, Echo Park 40-31.
Matt Yarbrough had a big 2-run home run for the Hurricanes in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Cape Coral leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Roberto Chaumond, who finished 3rd in the 3L in ERA with 2.73 in 2057, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hurricanes ahead, 3-0.
