The Charleston Battery defeated the Kingston Ponies by the score of 6-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to second baseman Kalino Iolana. Iolana was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Battery on the day. Charleston is 6th in the Third League with a record of 36-36.
Iolana contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Charleston in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 3-2, Iolana took a fastball from Claude Simon and stroked the double to left-center. His 21st double of the season allowed the Battery to leap in front, 5-3.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Iolana told the Charleston Times.
