Lighthouse Get Past Colorado for 6-5 Win
|
Colorado designated hitter Sidney Ames had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Ames went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2, even as Long Island beat the Billy Goats, 6-5. George King earned the save for Long Island, his 21st. The Lighthouse sit in 7th place in the Third League with a record of 36-37.
Lake Havasu City, Arizona-born Jessie Jackson came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded and the Lighthouse trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Long Island on top.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Jackson told the Long Island Times. "It's as simple as that."
