Northern Lions BC Upend Hurricanes, 8-2
|
The exploits of third baseman Tyler Harris, who finished 2nd in the 3L in doubles with 30 in 2058, helped the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC defeat the Cape Coral Hurricanes, 8-2. Harris went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Luke Riley earned the win to go to 3-6. He allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with 5 walks and 8 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. With the win over Cape Coral, the Northern Lions BC improved to 42-38.
With Thunder Bay leading 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Harris batted against Cape Coral pitcher Jorge Ortíz. Harris hit a fastball to left for a grand slam home run. His 12th home run of the season put the Northern Lions BC on top, 7-1.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Harris.
