Battery Saddle Dirty Reds with 5-3 Loss
|
Charleston designated hitter Benno Luby helped his team beat the Dayton Dirty Reds, 5-3. Luby, who is tied for 2nd in the 3L in bases on balls with 55, went 2 for 2 for the Battery. Noboru Kokawa, the winner, improved to 6-9. He held the Dirty Reds to 3 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. With the victory, the Battery upped their record to 44-37.
The Battery had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 5-3, Charleston, with one out. Dayton, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Elliot Banks dug in at the plate, but on a full count fastball, he flied out.
