Piranhas Fall Short, 5-4, at Kingston
|
Kingston left fielder Mitsuo Suzuki contributed significantly to his team's 5-4 win over the Panama City Piranhas. Suzuki, who finished 5th in the 3L in slugging percentage with .546 in 2059, went 3 for 3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Ponies. Fred Boman, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 5-5. The Ponies go to 29-53 with the win.
Júlio Gil had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Ponies. Coming up with the bases loaded and Kingston trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Gil.
