Despite a fine performance by second baseman Efren Cereza, the Nova Scotia Leviathan lost to the Buckhead Bowties, 6-5. Cereza went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Leonard Ramírez earned the win to go to 2-7. He allowed 5 runs on 10 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work. With the win, Buckhead has a record of 40-42. Nova Scotia falls to 44-38.
Buckhead used the timely hitting of Héctor Chávez to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bowties on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Buckhead manager Kerry Hofmeister.
