Vargas, Ponies Too Much for Dirty Reds

The Kingston Ponies knocked off the Dayton Dirty Reds, 6-4, at Megaffin Park. David Vargas was a big reason Kingston won. The shortstop went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Dayton now owns a losing streak of 8 games.
Had Arthur Hayes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hayes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Ponies.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Dayton manager David Dodds.
