The St. Louis Coeur and Dayton Dirty Reds provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Dayton Dirty Reds spoiled a good performance by St. Louis first baseman Ángel Macías, bumping off St. Louis, 8-7, at The BFIB. Macías went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Stanley Thompson snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 4-4 on the season.

Fernando Mezzatesta was 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Dayton. The slugging third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Johnny Flannery. It was his 53rd RBI of the season.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Mezzatesta.

Dayton now has a record of 52-30 with the win.
