Oaks Lose By a Run at Charleston
Charleston parlayed a decent outing from starter Pham Phung into a solid win over the Oakland Oaks. The final score was 6-5. Getting the save was Jeremiah Cole, his 5th. Charleston, at 28-55, occupies last place in the Third League.

Santiago Serrano had a big bases-clearing double for the Battery in the bottom of the first inning. With Charleston leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Mark Bowden and swatted a double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Battery ahead, 4-0.

In comments to the Charleston Herald, Serrano admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
