Both teams had their chances, but the D.C. Divided eventually prevailed.

The D.C. Divided defeated the Cape Coral Hurricanes, 5-4, at Factory of Sadness. D.C. right fielder Kenny Johnson had a superb performance. He was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. D.C. pitcher Bill Joseph earned the win, hiking his record to 9-2. Bob Smithley suffered the loss.

Ben Hardy, who is tied for 8th in the 3L in extra base hits with 34, helped out the D.C. cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the third baseman was 1-4 with a double.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Johnson.

The 5th-place Divided go to 43-40.
