Oaks 2-1 Victors Over Thunder Bay
|
The Oak Grove was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Oakland Oaks pitcher Scott Bishop was in fine form, leading his team past the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 2-1. The winner was Bishop. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Bennett Dodd. Walt Ormston got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Oakland got a lift in the bottom of the sixth from center fielder Paul Hughes, who hit a splitter to left-center for a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season put the Oaks up, 1-0.
"We put together a nice win," Hughes said.
Oakland is now 45-41.
