Piranhas Edge Past Battery, 5-4
|
The Panama City Piranhas faced a tough opponent in Charleston pitcher Immeghar Cherono, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Charleston Armory by a final score of 5-4. Cherono went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Panama City reliever Peter O'Farrell snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Wesley Perkins shouldered the loss. The save went to Jorge Marroquín, number 6 for him.
Panama City used the timely hitting of Oscar Worthy to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Piranhas on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Worthy said.
The Piranhas raised their record to 41-46.
