Battery Clip Leviathan, 2-1
|
The Nova Scotia Leviathan got a superb performance from pitcher Dan Cortés. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Charleston. The Battery won the game, 2-1. Cortés threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Yura Hrustalyov claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record stands at 2-1. The win has Charleston at 32-57.
Bret Latham was the walk-off hero for Charleston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Battery left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I was a little disappointed," said Nova Scotia manager Tyler Studebaker. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
