The Charleston Battery took Cape Coral pitcher Bob Smithley's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Factory of Sadness. The final score had Charleston getting past the Hurricanes, 4-1. Smithley went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 6. Wesley Perkins notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 4-4. Charleston goes to 56-34, Cape Coral to 42-48.

Charleston needed the clutch hitting of Rich Lee to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Battery on top, 2-1. For the game, Lee had 1 home run and 1 single in 7 at-bats.
