Lighthouse Suffer 10-4 Home Defeat
|
Echo Park second baseman Palmer Kent contributed significantly to his team's 10-4 win over the Long Island Lighthouse. Kent, who led the 3L in stolen bases with 49 in 2058, went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Lakers. Roberto Chaumond got the win, improving to 6-4. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Echo Park is third in the Third League with a record of 51-40.
In the top of the second inning, the Lakers grabbed the lead when Roy Blair rapped a two-out single. Echo Park was trailing 3-2, when Blair hit a 2-run single off Jack Peters to put his team in front, 4-3.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Blair told the Echo Park Daily News.
