Kalkman goes 4-for-5 to Power Piranhas Offense
|
The Panama City Piranhas dealt the Dayton Dirty Reds a 3-2 loss at Lang Park. Fred Kalkman was the star on offense. He went 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Conor Starks picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 4-6. Jorge Marroquín recorded his 7th save for Panama City.
With Panama City leading 2-1 in the top of the seventh, Kalkman hit a run-scoring single off Dayton hurler Ethan Henry. It was the 122nd hit of the season for Kalkman and put his team ahead, 3-1.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Panama City manager Brian Talamante said.
The Piranhas now have a record of 45-48.
