Lakers Come Up Short at Long Island, 4-3
|
The Long Island Lighthouse defeated the Echo Park Lakers, 4-3, in Menard's Third League action at The Lighthouse. Long Island pitcher Ken Harding had a standout performance. Long Island reliever Raúl Abreu snagged the win, upping his record to 4-3. Will Turner shouldered the loss. The save went to George King, his 28th this season.
Had Donovan Phillips not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Phillips hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Lighthouse.
"Ken can bring it," said Long Island manager Michael Esposito.
The Lighthouse now own a record of 47-46.
