Divided Suffer 6-5 Setback

The Charleston Battery overcame a pretty good performance by D.C. second baseman Joaquín Rodríguez, beating the Divided, 6-5, at Washington Stadium. Rodríguez went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Edward Brown in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Gregory Collins took the loss. At 34-59, Charleston is in last place in the Third League.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Kagetoki Ando? The 31-year old catcher Ando stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put Charleston up, 6-4. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I know we have our doubters," said D.C. manager Jonathan Gerth. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
