Piranhas Absorb 7-4 Home Loss

The Oakland Oaks downed the Panama City Piranhas, 7-4, at The Tank. Robert Block led the way, going 2-for-4 for Oakland. Alfonso Sánchez got credit for the win, improving to 7-5. He allowed 4 runs on 6 hits in 6.2 innings. Picking up his 7th save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Stewart Holman.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bartolo Vásquez? The Oakland center fielder had a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Oaks on top, 6-4. For the game, Vásquez had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Vásquez. "And not try to do too much."
The 8th-place Oaks now have a win-loss record of 44-50.
