Dirty Reds Rally to Nose Past Echo Park
|
The Dayton Dirty Reds and Echo Park Lakers put on quite a show.
Edgar Zwarthoed, who is on pace to hit 23 home runs this season, led Dayton to a triumph over Echo Park. The final score was 5-4. The center fielder went 4 for 6, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 2 runs and added 2 RBI. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Dayton.
Zwarthoed had a game-changing home run in the top of the 12th. On a 1-2 sinker from Warner Alder, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Dirty Reds a 5-4 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Zwarthoed.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Zwarthoed told the Dayton Daily News.
