Battery Prevail, 2-1, Over Thunder Bay
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Charleston Battery and the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC. Charleston won it, 2-1. Charleston starter Kevin Brown was in command. Brown, now 7-8, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Charleston raised its record to 49-45 with the win.
Charleston second baseman Edmund Davis contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 52nd hit of the season and put the Battery ahead, 2-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Brown said.
