The Charleston Battery got a magnificent performance from pitcher Immeghar Cherono, who muffled the Thunder Bay offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Battery win at Great Northern Field. The win was credited to Gary Mosley in relief. His record improves to 4-6. Hakizimana Kipkorir took the loss. Picking up his 22nd save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Carlos Mejía.

Melvin Williams chipped in for Charleston, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1-2.

"It's not about individual awards," Williams told a Charleston Today reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."

The win puts the Battery at 61-35, while the Northern Lions BC drop to 55-41.
