Bowties Lose to Battery, 4-1
|
Starting pitcher Pham Phung was a major factor in the 4-1 Charleston Battery triumph over the Buckhead Bowties. Phung got the win, improving to 14-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. The victory gives Charleston a record of 62-35.
The Battery got a big at-bat from right fielder Rich Lee. For the game, Lee went 1-3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 23rd double of the season gave Charleston a 1-0 lead.
"Pham throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Charleston manager Matt Hunt.
