Ponies Solve Battery, 6-3
|
Kingston pitcher Edward Small had a large part in his team beating the Charleston Battery, 6-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Small got the win, improving to 4-8. He gave up 5 hits and walked 5 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The win puts Kingston at 39-58.
Holden Hart had a big run-scoring triple for the Ponies in the top of the fifth inning. With Kingston leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Pham Phung, who is tied for 4th in the 3L in strikeouts with 140, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 6th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Ponies ahead, 2-0.
Hart said his team "played with determination."
