Hurricanes Top Coeur to Even Record
|
St. Louis shortstop Charles Petit had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Petit was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once, even as Cape Coral beat the Coeur, 9-6. Janghyun Han was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. With the win, Cape Coral upped its record to 49-49.
Ray Lawrence had a big 2-run double for the Hurricanes in the bottom of the third inning. With Cape Coral leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Dan Hewitt, who is tied for 9th in the 3L in quality starts with 12, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hurricanes ahead, 5-1.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Lawrence said in reaction to the win.
