Thanks in large part to right fielder Chia-ch'ing Chen, the St. Louis Coeur beat the Kingston Ponies, 12-3. Chen went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The Coeur lead the Third League by 2 games.

Mal Parker had a big 2-run double for the Coeur in the bottom of the first inning. With St. Louis leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Claude Simon and swatted a double to center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Coeur ahead, 3-0.

"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Chen.
