Battery Squelch Ponies Offense in Shutout Win
Charleston turned a fine outing from starter Immeghar Cherono into a victory over the Kingston Ponies at Megaffin Park. The final score was 3-0. The winner was Cherono. He threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Anthon Arents. Wesley Perkins earned the save for Charleston, his 16th.

Charleston used the timely hitting of George Dailey to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Battery on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We were trying to do a difficult thing -- winning a game without scoring," said Kingston manager Rayzor Ray. "That's not going to work out."

Charleston, at 47-52, holds down 8th place in the Third League.
