The Charleston Battery picked up a win at Factory of Sadness, knocking off the Cape Coral Hurricanes, 5-3. On the mound for Charleston was right-hander Jeremiah Cole. He played a key role in the triumph. Charleston pitcher Jim Hunter earned the win, hiking his record to 3-1. Mark Smith suffered the loss. Wesley Perkins recorded the save, making him 17 for 21.

Charleston used a timely hit from Bret Latham to get the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Battery ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Latham.

Charleston, at 48-52, sits in 8th place in the Third League.
