Rainbow Mermaids Secure 5-2 Win
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids picked up a win at Atlantica, downing the Toronto Thunder, 5-2. On the mound for Northern Virginia was right-hander Mitsuo Yoshida, who played a pivotal role in the win. Yoshida, now 8-3, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The save was credited to Juan Carlos Mejía, his 10th.
Harvey Thomas contributed to the Northern Virginia win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the catcher had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"For the most part, I didn't think they knew what was coming," said Yoshida.
With the win over Toronto, the Rainbow Mermaids improved to 35-34.
