The Dayton Dirty Reds picked up a win at The Oak Grove, knocking off the Oakland Oaks, 4-2. Starting pitcher Steve King was a big reason why. Mike Carney closed the door for Dayton, picking up his 1st save of the year. The Oaks, now 45-56, have lost 6 in a row.
Fernando Mezzatesta, who is tied for 10th in the 3L in RBI with 65, chipped in a solo home run for Dayton in the top of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Mezzatesta told the Dayton Herald.
