Dirty Reds Win Squeaker, 5-4, Over Lighthouse
Dayton beat Long Island at Lang Park, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to left fielder Bob Dennis. He was 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Dayton reliever Éric Lemaire, now 5-2. The loser was George King. The loss makes Long Island 52-50.

The game-ending blow was delivered by Edgar Zwarthoed in the bottom of the 12th. That's when he hit a run-scoring double off 38-year old right-handed pitcher George King to win it for Dayton and cause the home crowd to erupt in celebration.

"The fans went nuts at the end," Dennis said.
