Leviathan Rally Late to Nip Hurricanes
|
Nova Scotia beat Cape Coral at Factory of Sadness, eking out a 6-5 win. The triumph was primarily due to center fielder Dermott Colenutt. He was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Álex Tobías picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Fernando López, who is tied for 8th in the 3L in holds with 6, was tagged with the loss. Howard Randolph closed out the game, earning his 4th save.
Had Colenutt not come through in the top of the ninth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Colenutt hit a run-scoring single. The Leviathan took the lead, 6-5, and never looked back.
Colenutt said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
By defeating Cape Coral, the 8th-place Leviathan improved to 49-53.
