González Helps Bowties Beat Dirty Reds, 8-5
|
Buckhead third baseman Cristo González contributed significantly to his team's 8-5 win over the Dayton Dirty Reds. González, who is tied for 4th in the 3L in runs scored with 69, went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Bowties. The win belonged to Rory May in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Mike Carney took the loss for Dayton. Ed House earned his 22nd save in 26 chances.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Francisco Guerrero was at the plate when Buckhead scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Bowties to go in front, 4-3.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Buckhead skipper Kerry Hofmeister.
Buckhead is now 52-53, while Dayton is 66-39.
