Northern Lions BC Best Ponies in Pitching Duel
|
Kingston pitcher Edward Small gave the Northern Lions BC all they could handle, but in the end, Thunder Bay left Great Northern Field with a win, 2-1. Small allowed 2 runs on 6 hits over 7.2 innings. Pancho Calderón claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record stands at 1-6. The setback makes Kingston 41-65.
Frankie Mazeltov drove in one run for Thunder Bay. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Edward Small. It was his 35th RBI of the season.
Mazeltov said his team "played with focus."
