With Late Score, Battery Beat Leviathan
|
The Charleston Battery withstood a fine game by Nova Scotia center fielder Kenneth Alexander at Charleston Armory, to upend the Leviathan, 5-4. Alexander went 5-5 with 2 doubles and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The 7th-place Battery now have a win-loss record of 52-55.
The decisive blow was delivered by Rich Lee in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 39-year old left-handed pitcher John Ellis to win the game for Charleston. The home crowd went nuts.
"The crowd was juiced," said Lee.
