Fat Cats Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
Ottawa and Providence put this game in the books despite some rain.

The Ottawa Fat Cats scored a tight, 1-0 win versus the Providence Pilgrims at Nationals Park. Ottawa pitcher Lowell Martin held his own in the contest. Martin, now 2-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Getting the save was Mark Wilson, his 6th.

The Fat Cats got a big boost from designated hitter Robbie Shaw who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the third inning off Pilgrims hurler Jeffrey Dixon. It was his 4th RBI of the season and put Ottawa on top, 1-0.

"We didn't score," said losing manager Arturo Rochel. "That was the problem."
