Westwood Triumphs with Late Surge
|
No one was more impactful than Radek Grosek in the 6-4 Westwood win over Virginia Beach. Grosek, who is tied for 6th in the 3AA in triples with 1, went 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk, while adding 4 RBI. Westwood reliever Kent Stephens picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tom Schaefer took the loss. Earning his 4th save of the year was Peter Dupree.
Had Grosek not come through in the bottom of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Grosek hit a 2-run single. The Sixshooters took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Westwood manager .
The loss makes the Whales 6-13.
