The Squirrel Hill Pierogis had to overcome a big game from Virginia Beach first baseman Jim McSweeney to leave Virginia Beach Grounds with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5, in 11 innings. McSweeney went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. The setback makes the Whales 6-13.

Ricardo Aquino came through with a big-time hit for Squirrel Hill. The center fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Sweet win for us, tough loss for them," said Aquino.
