Saboteurs Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Toledo Saboteurs and Northville Eclipse.
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 25-year old shortstop Steve Owens, the Toledo Saboteurs stopped the Northville Eclipse, 4-1, in 9 innings. Roberto Deleón, now 1-1, was credited with the win in 4.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Clemens Schlöndorff earned the save for Toledo, his 1st of the year.
Toledo grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Owens hit a 2-run home run off Álex Cruz. His 2nd home run of the season put the Saboteurs out in front, 3-1.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Toledo manager Rodney Dudley.
Toledo, now 7-12, is off to a slow start.
