Cangrejos Fantasmas Earn Late Win
|
The Arizona Javelina got a sterling performance from pitcher Lonnie Baldazo, but the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas still prevailed, 4-3. Baldazo threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Fa-tang Guang, 2-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. Carlos Hana earned the save for Chesapeake, his 2nd.
Had Nigel Coughlan not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Coughlan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Cangrejos Fantasmas.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Chesapeake manager John Moore.
Chesapeake sits at 12-8 in the early going.
