Loons Sink Ghosts, 6-3

The Minnesota Loons picked up a win at The Graveyard, knocking off the Casper Ghosts, 6-3. Starting pitcher Jeff Benson was a big reason why. Benson, now 4-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. The second-place Loons bumped their record to 14-7.
Minnesota used the timely hitting of Dennis Jones to capture the win. The catcher socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Loons ahead, 6-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Jeff was locating, throwing all of his pitches," said Minnesota manager Calvin Beck. "He did a heck of a job."
