In a low-scoring contest between the Virginia Beach Whales and the Westwood Sixshooters, 22-year old right-handed pitcher Brit Hughes proved to be the difference. The Virginia Beach right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Whales win. Cristovão Mineiro got the save, the 2nd for him this season.

Victor Cals had a critical at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth for Virginia Beach. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Virginia Beach in front, 3-1.
