Javelina Absorb 6-3 Home Loss
|
The Ottawa Fat Cats handed the Arizona Javelina a 6-3 defeat at Javelina Ballpark. Shortstop Harry Monroe starred for Ottawa. He was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Dan George got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Javelina to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Donald Hamm closed out the game, earning his 7th save.
Monroe contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Ottawa in the top of the second. With his team trailing 2-0, Monroe took a cutter from Chris Waters and stroked the home run to right. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Fat Cats to leap in front, 3-2.
"Feels good to get the job done," Monroe said after the game.
After today's action, Ottawa sits at 14-8; Arizona slips to 13-9.
