Barton Springs Wins 4-2 to Continue Red-Hot Start
|
Barton Springs got a strong outing from Alejandro Paboal as the Blues defeated the Ottawa Fat Cats, 4-2, at Blues Field. Paboal got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs. Fernando Rivera nailed down his 7th save.
José Costello had a big bases-clearing double for the Blues in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Barton Springs leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Akihito Ishikawa and swatted a double to center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blues ahead, 4-0.
"Bottom line," said Ottawa skipper Jorge Carranza, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The Fat Cats, at 12-11, have lost 4 in a row.
