Spirited fans greeted the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs for their clash with the Yakima Hops.

Yakima starter José López put a stranglehold on the Gwinnett offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Hops to a 5-1 win. López yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 5, and struck out 6. His record improves to 4-1.

Yakima used the timely hitting of Robert Block to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hops on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

Block told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.

The Hops raised their record to 12-12.
