Cardenas Helps Highlanders Beat Fat Cats, 9-1
|
The Asheville Highlanders beat the Ottawa Fat Cats, 9-1, at Asheville Park. Asheville designated hitter Francisco Cardenas had an outstanding performance. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. William Chávez recorded the save, his 2nd. Asheville's winning streak has reached 5 games.
The Highlanders got an important contribution from catcher Miguel Ortega, who in the bottom of the third hit a changeup to left-center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Highlanders ahead, 6-0.
"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Cardenas told the Asheville Bulletin.
